I recently saw this press release regarding the college football Sugar Bowl and the friendly wager involving Maui Gold pineapple and Georgia peaches and the universities of Hawaii and Georgia. Georgia ended up winning the Sugar Bowl, so I imagine they received their fill of the Hawaiian pineapple from Maui Pineapple Company.

MPC is so certain that Hawaii’s Warriors will triumph, the company will send each member of the Georgia Bulldogs team their very own Maui Gold® pineapple - if they can prove MPC wrong.

The Sugar Bowl wager goes like this: If the Warriors of University of Hawai‘i win, Mayor Davison sends Mufi peaches; if the Bulldogs of University of Georgia win, Mayor Hannemann sends Heidi Maui Gold pineapples donated by Maui Pineapple Company, a division of Maui Land & Pineapple, Inc.
