Following the Strictly Ballroom film shoot in Sydney, Australia, the dance floor was installed in the art studio of Throwdownyourguns.com. When the studio moved premises some years later, the floor was put in storage and has remained there ever since.
Guy Chapman, Director of Throwdownyourguns.com said "I always intended getting a place down the coast and using the floor again but it's time to get it out of storage and let someone else make use of the floor that Paul Mercurio and Tara Morice danced on".
During the filming of Strictly Ballroom, the floor was laid in the sound stage at Mentmore House Studios and the set for Kendall's Dance Studio was then assembled over the top. Chapman, who worked on the film, said "This is a little bit of Australian film and dance history, it'd be great to see it go to a film or dance enthusiast who can take care of it".
The floor is made from Australian Brushbox boards fixed to a particle board base and when re-laid will cover an area of around 100 square meters. The listing on eBay provides a more detailed description and shows images of the floor.
