During the Entrepreneurship Panel, Williams will discuss how Boomers, particularly those 50 and older, are redefining entrepreneurship. "Seventy-five percent of older Boomers say they intend to keep on working beyond traditional retirement age," Williams says. "Entrepreneurship is the path more and more are choosing to make a good living in a way that fits their lifestyle needs".
Jeff Williams, founder and CEO of Bizstarters (www.bizstarters.com), is a nationally recognized business startup coach with 19 years experience helping Boomers plan, launch and grow their own businesses. His Starting a Business In Your Fifties And Beyond course has won state and national awards for its effectiveness in helping corporate managers successfully transition to self-employment. Like so many of his clients, Jeff spent the first half of his career in corporate management, jumping out to become his own boss just before his 40th birthday.
Joining Williams on the panel will be Amy Hilliard, chief executive officer of The Comfort Cake Company, LLC. Hilliard turned a family pound cake recipe into a company that today counts United Airlines and the Chicago Public Schools among its customers.
The panel will be moderated by Mark Miller, president of Chicago-based 50+Digital LLC, a start-up company that develops websites and other media for the Boomer audience. Miller is a journalist and editor with more than 25 years' experience. Most recently, he was the founding publisher and editorial director of Satisfaction Magazine, a lifestyle magazine focused on the 50+ market and published by Tribune Co. through 2006.
Rounding out the panel is Dr. Mary Furlong, CEO of Mary Furlong & Associates. Furlong has guided the online and offline marketing strategies for major U.S. corporations in the 40-and-over market for more than 20 years. She is an Executive Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Santa Clara and previously founded SeniorNet and ThirdAge Media.
