Hosted by BTR's own husband and wife team, "The Newlyweds" premiered on Valentine's Day, and featured a selection of the best love songs from the BTR library, handpicked by the duo.
The couple shared the mic on "The Newlyweds" for the first time, bringing their very special chemistry to the show. Between tracks, the couple banters and bickers humorously, with their entertaining rapport as the perfect backdrop to the excellent music. Both longtime DJs for BTR, the couple said that collaborating on a show was an idea they stumbled upon while discussing their favorite topic: music.
"Being that we're both DJs, many of our conflicts involve music," explains DJ Emily. "What we should listen to in the car, which bands sound better live, who has the best drummer? As we argued one day, we came up with the idea of a couples show where we could present our struggles in a comical way and hopefully relate to listeners at the same time," she said.
Both DJ Emily and DJ Latola take independent music very seriously. They hope to bring that spirit to "The Newlyweds," while adding a more personal touch.
"We wanted to present the music in a unique way, opening up our real lives and showcasing our personalities," said DJ Latola.
And personalize they do. This charming glimpse into married life with a rock and roll twist is sure to impress both old and new BTR listeners. The debut episode featured the likes of The Blow, Of Montreal, One Be Lo, Colourmusic, and many more. "The Newlyweds" will air as a specialty show periodically on www.breakthruradio.com.
Be sure to also catch DJ Emily on Tuesdays and DJ Latola on Fridays, only on BreakThru Radio.
