Best-Selling Author Bill Byham to Present Human Capital Institute Webcast
While organizations are focusing more efforts on talent management, The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that William C. Byham, Ph.D., best-selling author and Chairman and CEO of Development Dimensions International (DDI), will host an HCI Masters Series Webcast on the untapped area of retirement management.

Washington, D.C. (PRWeb) February 1, 2007 -- While organizations are focusing more efforts on talent management, The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that William C. Byham, Ph.D., best-selling author and Chairman and CEO of Development Dimensions International (DDI), will host an HCI Masters Series Webcast on the untapped area of retirement management.

On Wednesday, February 14, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET, Byham will present "70 Is the New 50: Retaining the Energy and Expertise of Experienced Employees," a session that will explore proven techniques for developing, motivating, and managing an aging workforce with highly valuable skills and experience. The Webcast shares insights from Byham's forthcoming book, "70: The New 50," which is based on the premise that although nearly half of the workforce will reach retirement age in the next decade, organizations will not face the brain drain that many are predicting since older workers are interested in continuing to work.

"Human resource departments must respond to an aging workforce by actively managing retirements, which includes helping those individuals who don't want to retire understand the opportunities available to them," said Allan Schweyer, HCI's President & Executive Director. "There are widespread implications for employers, as Bill Byham will explain in this important session."

Among the issues Byham will address are the elements of a retirement management system; how retirement fits into a broader talent management system; and how to effectively implement a successful retirement management program.

Bill Byham has authored several books, including "Zapp!® The Lightning of Empowerment," which has sold more than 4.5 million copies, and "Grow Your Own Leaders," a guide to identifying and developing organizational leaders. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Development Dimensions International (DDI), an internationally renowned human resource training and consulting company he co-founded in 1970. Prior to the founding of DDI, Byham was Manager of Selection, Appraisal, and General Management Development for J.C. Penney.

A management pioneer known for his expertise in empowerment, succession, and hiring, Byham developed the first behavior-based interviewing system, Targeted Selection®, in 1970. He also co-developed the first commercially available leadership training programs using behavior modeling, Interaction Management®, in 1975. Byham has received numerous awards and accolades for his work. In 2003, Adam Hanft of Inc. magazine wrote: "What Tom Peters is to excellence and Jim Collins is to leadership, William C. Byham, who co-founded DDI back in 1970, might very well be to hiring."

Bill Byham holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Purdue University, and an M.S. and B.S. from Ohio University.
