The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Bodog.com Posts Odds on Oscars, Razzies
Online betting leader Bodog.com has posted the odds on the Oscars. Prop bets on Penelope Cruz, Meryl Streep, and Kate Winslet at the Bodog Sportsbook. (PRWeb) January 26, 2007 -- First came the Grammy's then the Golden Globes, and now Bodog.com is offering odds on the tops and flops of the 2006 movie season. The Academy Awards are known for honoring and rewarding the best of the best, while the Razzies take the complete opposite approach and are notorious for demeaning the worst flicks of the year.

Bodog.com is known internationally for its innovative entertainment offerings and prides itself on providing the best entertainment odds possible in a timely manner. For the second year in a row, Bodog.com has been the first entertainment company to offer odds on both the Academy Awards and Razzie Awards.

"The popularity of entertainment odds has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years and award shows have always been a big draw," said Calvin Ayre, Bodog.com Founder. "The Academy Awards in particular are always a fan favorite. The Oscars are considered by many to be the pinnacle of the award show season, and even being nominated for one of the prestigious awards, let alone winning one, can do wonders for any movie."

Some of the Oscar odds being offered by Bodog.com are:

What movie will win the Oscar for "Best Motion Picture of the Year" at the 79th Annual Academy Awards on February 25?
Babel 14/5
The Departed 2/3
Letters from Iwo Jima 9/1
Little Miss Sunshine 14/5
The Queen 10/1

Who will win the Oscar for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role" at the 79th Annual Academy Awards?
Penelope Cruz (Volver) 22/1
Judi Dench (Notes on a Scandal) 20/1
Helen Mirren (The Queen) 1/30
Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada) 9/1
Kate Winslet (Little Children) 25/1

Though many of the Academy Award categories are considered to be in tight competition, one in particular stands out above the rest: "Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role." The Best Actress Oscar is the single most competitive category, pitting critically acclaimed and world-renowned actresses Helen Mirren, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Judi Dench against two-time winner Meryl Streep. Mirren heads into the Oscars as the odds-on favorite after winning the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama).

On the opposite side of the spectrum sits the 2006 Razzie for "Worst Director", which pits such legends of directing as Uwe Boll, M. Night Shyamalan and Keenan Ivory Wayans against one another. However, unlike the Academy Award for Best Actress, the "Worst Director" Razzie has a clear favorite in Boll, who is best known for directing/producing such box-office flops as "BloodRayne" and "House of the Dead." At 1/1 odds, Boll is the clear favorite to walk away with the "Worst Director" award on February 24.
