New Super Longevinex® Capsule Offers More Than Resveratrol -- Designed Around New Theory of Aging
Longevinex is first dietary resveratrol supplement to be designed around a new unified theory of aging. Longevinex identifies three ingredients in its new formula that produce healthy aging. The new theory of aging is available for viewing at resveratrol.

San Dimas, CA (PRWeb) January 29, 2007 -- In response to consumer demand for a higher-dose resveratrol dietary supplement, new Super Longevinex® capsules have been introduced which provide 100 milligrams of trans resveratrol (increase from 40 mg), 75 milligrams of IP6 rice bran extract and 25 milligrams of quercetin, delivered in Longevinex's proprietary airtight capsule. The new ingredients are provided in a base of rice bran oil and a lecithin emulsifier derived from sunflower rather than soy, in order to enhance absorption.

The newly formulated Super Longevinex® have been designed to address a unified theory of aging, now posted at the website: www.longevinex.com

"The new generation of botanical dietary supplements now being introduced, such as resveratrol, should be designed to address the many theories of aging," says Bill Sardi, president of Resveratrol Partners LLC, maker of Longevinex®.

"After extensive research, we propose a concept of biological aging that encompasses all other theories including newly discovered gene switching mechanisms," says Sardi.

Called the "overmineralization theory of aging," it asserts that the accumulation of calcium, iron and other metallic metals, triggers biological changes in cells over time that accelerate aging.

Explanation of overmineralization theory

As cells age they lose both their ability to digest and cleanse cellular debris, a cellular housekeeping chore normally accomplished by cell bodies called lysosomes, and lose their ability to produce energy in miniature atomic power plants called mitochondria. This dysfunctional state is initiated by calcification and iron rusting within an aged cell.

"The result is slow accumulation of debris (aging pigment) called lipofuscin (ly-poh-fuss-kin) within living cells which can be observed, starting at about the third decade of life, which is evidence the cell cannot function as it did during youth," says Sardi.

The continued accumulation of minerals, cellular debris and lipofuscin will lead to the premature demise of the cell. This is particularly troublesome for cells in the nervous system (brain and eyes) that do not replace themselves as quickly as cells in the skin and lining of the digestive tract.

The unique array of natural ingredients in Longevinex® capsules address the theory of overmineralization. Resveratrol is a copper chelator (binder) and controls iron via an enzyme called heme oxygenase. Quercetin is an iron binder. IP6 rice bran extract is an iron, copper, heavy metal, calcium chelator. (Longevinex's unique nutrient combination is the subject of an applied-for patent.)

Other prominent theories of aging have been proposed, such as the antioxidant/free radical theory, the mitochondrial theory, the hormonal theory (declining estrogen, growth hormone, melatonin), and the metabolic (blood sugar, calorie restriction, Sirtuin 1 gene, molecular mimic resveratrol). "The overmineralization theory is a universal, overarching theory that encompasses and explains all these other theories," says Sardi. Even the telomere theory of aging is addressed by ingredients in Longevinex©, he says.

The speed of aging

"It's interesting to learn that the body ages at different speeds throughout life. In the first two decades of life there is physical growth and a high need for calcium and iron to make bones and red blood cells. When growth is completed, and minerals begin to accumulate, is when aging begins, as evidenced by the appearance of aging pigments (lipofuscin) in tissues. By middle age, males have slowly accumulated calcium and iron until tissues become 'old.' Mineral accumulation is delayed in females till menopause begins, which is why women live longer than men. Surprisingly, in very late life, aging also ceases and this corresponds with a leveling off of stored calcium and iron in the body," says Sardi.
