Orem's Lakeridge Junior High School Selected as Best K-12 School in Utah

Lakeridge transforms from a failing school to winning Best of State Award.

Orem, Utah (PRWEB) May 9, 2008 -- A few years ago, Lakeridge Junior High School was a failing school. This week, Lakeridge was recognized as the best public K-12 school in Utah by the Best of State Awards.

“Six years ago, Lakeridge was one of the lowest academically performing Junior Highs in the Alpine School District. At that time, a group of parents, teachers, and administrators joined together and created a plan on how to become a top performing Junior High. Since then, we have seen dramatic and consistent progress among all students,” stated Tim Stay, Lakeridge Community Council Chairman.

Garrick Peterson, the principal of Lakeridge Junior High School stated: “This is such an honor for our faculty and school community. Parents and teachers at Lakeridge have worked so hard to make the experience students have here the best it can possibly be. It is nice to see them recognized for their efforts.”

The Best of State Awards were created to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. The mission of Best of State is that by recognizing excellence in the Utah community and sharing examples of success and triumph in worthy endeavors, the hope is all will be inspired to reach a little higher.

One of the many reasons Lakeridge was honored was the increased success with typically low performing groups. Sterling Hilton, a parent who oversees the Community Council School Improvement Plan, stated, “We have a core belief that all students can learn. One of the accomplishments we are most proud of has been our ability to see dramatic academic improvement among all students. We have seen improvement with minority students, our non-English speaking students, our students with disabilities, and our low income students. We have seen up to 100% improvement among these sub groups over the past 6 years and we see the Minority Achievement gap continue to narrow.”

Hawaiian Pineapples or Georgia Peaches go to the Victor of Sugar Bowl

I recently saw this press release regarding the college football Sugar Bowl and the friendly wager involving Maui Gold pineapple and Georgia peaches and the universities of Hawaii and Georgia. Georgia ended up winning the Sugar Bowl, so I imagine they received their fill of the Hawaiian pineapple from Maui Pineapple Company.

Maui Gold® Pineapples vs. Georgia Peaches – A Battle for the Sweet Taste of Victory – UH Warriors vs. Georgia Bulldogs at the Sugar Bowl

KAHULUI, MAUI, HAWAI`I (December 28, 2007) — With a friendly pineapples vs. peaches bet already on the table between Athens-Clarke Mayor Heidi Davison and Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, Maui Pineapple Company (MPC) is raising the stakes for the outcome of the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 2008. MPC is so certain that Hawaii’s Warriors will triumph, the company will send each member of the Georgia Bulldogs team their very own Maui Gold® pineapple - if they can prove MPC wrong.

The Sugar Bowl wager goes like this: If the Warriors of University of Hawai‘i win, Mayor Davison sends Mufi peaches; if the Bulldogs of University of Georgia win, Mayor Hannemann sends Heidi Maui Gold pineapples donated by Maui Pineapple Company, a division of Maui Land & Pineapple, Inc.

“From the pineapple field to the football field, we support our UH Warriors,” said Gerry Watts, vice president and general manager of Maui Pineapple Company. “The Warriors have had an amazing year and it is with great pride that we support the team with a donation of Maui Gold pineapples for the friendly wagers.”

BankingMyWay.Com Adds Searches for New Financial Services: Site Helps Users Find Great Deals on Local Interest Rates

In real estate, it’s ‘location, location, location.’ With Internet banking, ‘it’s local, local, local’.
Fort Atkinson, WI (PRWEB) June 5, 2007 – BankingMyWay.com (www.bankingmyway.com), the quickly-expanding site where savvy investors can find CD rates as a high as 10 percent, has added searches for a series for consumer loans to their initial roster of money market and CD rates. Now people can use BankingMyWay.com to compare rates on home mortgages, auto loans, and home equity loans offered at banks, credit unions and on the Internet banks.

According to BankingMyWay.com’s CEO Kyle Selberg, "In real estate, it’s ‘location, location, location.’ With Internet banking, ‘it’s local, local, local’."

BankingMyWay.com lets consumers compare rates at a variety of local banks, where stiff competition results in attractive rates. In fact, while many consumers look for great rates from websites offering national rates, many are unaware that local rates are often more attractive. Now, on BankingMyWay.com, users can compare banks and credit unions to Internet banks and can search by zip code, city and state. Searching local is an idea that’s catching on, for weather, gas prices and now bank rates.

The site now tracks over 30,000 financial institutions, a 50% increase from when the site went live earlier this year. The number of financial institutions on BankingMyWay.com means the site holds a dramatic advantage in local rates over other banking search engines. That number will continue to grow as more and more consumers discover the BankingMyWay.com advantage.

‘Think of all the websites, magazines and brokerage firms devoted to covering mutual funds, stocks and bonds," said Selberg. "Yet banking deposits, which exceed each of these investment categories, has had very little coverage until now. Why? Banking is a local business and it takes a real focus to providing the local coverage necessary to do it right."

At the end of May, the average 12 month CD rate was about 4.5%. But in certain markets, rates of 8 to 10% (with certain restrictions) can be found. Visit BankingMyWay.com (www.bankingmyway.com) and find out why it’s ‘local, local, local’.

XIGroup Launches Customer Advocate Program to Increase Dealers' Return on Investment

We have a genuine interest in our customers' success, and by having our customer advocates connect with dealers on a regular basis, we hope to sustain long-term partnerships
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) June 4, 2007 -- XIGroup, a division of Dominion Enterprises, announced today the launch of a customer advocate program designed to help its dealer customers get the most out of their web solutions. XIGroup customer advocates proactively monitor dealer web site usage and other metrics, then call to offer dealers suggestions, methods for improving results, training tips and ways to stay effectively engaged in the internet marketing process.

"One of the biggest challenges in this industry is when dealers make a large investment in tools such as lead generating web sites, inventory management products and search engine marketing, and then don't use them or use only a small fraction of the features, thereby never realizing the full potential return on investment," said Brian Burns, General Manager of XIGroup.

Additionally, many dealers don't call vendors when they do encounter problems, which is why XIGroup implemented a proactive approach. "We have a genuine interest in our customers' success, and by having our customer advocates connect with dealers on a regular basis, we hope to sustain long-term partnerships," said Burns.

XIGroup offers comprehensive in-dealership and webcast training when its internet solutions are implemented, but many dealership employees use only a small portion of what the products offer. The customer advocate program was designed to determine whether a dealer is utilizing all the tools necessary to achieve continued success. Customer advocates work with the dealers to look at historical information and determine whether the changes they made to their marketing programs worked, and why. Advocates also analyze leads quality, quantity and process, monitor web site traffic and compare vehicle pricing statistics. As trends and changes appear in the market, the customer advocates help the dealer stay engaged and knowledgeable.

The customer advocate program is complimentary and available immediately to all XIGroup customers.
